Christmas for Kids Offers Time for Parents, Fun for Kids
GAINESVILLE, FL To help ease the stress parents face during the hectic holiday season, Zion Lutheran church is offering a free program for children ages 3-12 on Saturday, December 19th from 9am to noon. The Christmas for Kids program is a free community service and outreach effort designed to provide three hours of relief to parents, and share the story of Jesus’ birth with children in a fun, exciting way. While the children are busy, parents can leave to take care of last minute holiday details.
This is the 6th year Zion Lutheran has offered the Christmas for Kids program. Positive response from previous participants has encouraged the congregation to make an even broader effort to get the word out about their child-centered program. “One mother told me her children had so much fun, they were already asking to come again that very afternoon,” laughed Andi Washburn, past program coordinator. The theme for this year’s Christmas for Kids is “You are a Star.” The children will be singing songs, hearing stories, making crafts, and creating Christmas themed snacks that all relate to this familiar theme.
Zion Lutheran’s mission is to “Share the Good News: Forgiveness of Sins in Christ”, to everyone they can reach, young and old.
Zion wants to reach out to families in their area and provide service where they can. With Christmas for Kids,
Zion can work toward their mission by sharing the story of Jesus’ birth with children, and offer some respite for parents, at the same time.
Registration for the free Christmas for Kids program is requested so that the members know how many children to plan for on the morning of December 19th. Parents can register by calling the
